GREEN WALES SURVEY SHOWS NATION READY TO LEAD ON CLIMATE CHANGE

11.04.39am GMT Wed 2nd Dec 2009

Commenting on today's report from BBC Cymru into Welsh attitudes towards climate change, Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, said:

"This report shows that people in Wales are well informed on climate change and ready to take a lead in combating it.

"Some people unfortunately still think that they don't have much of a role to play. This is wrong and a result of Labour's epic failure to capture people's imagination over what a greener, healthier and cheaper place the world could be if we really do take on climate change.

"Getting the big boys to act, like the US and China, is essential. But the best way to do that is to show that a low carbon future is achievable and beneficial. Wales can set an example to others and reap the rewards through green jobs, better health and cheaper living.

"This report sends a loud and clear signal to the government that the people of Wales want action on climate change and are ready to lead."
