Lib Dem success on Pen-y-Bryn residents parking scheme!2.30.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 11th Sep 2008 Following requests from the Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team, Cardiff Council are planning to introduce a 'residents-only' parking scheme on Pen-y-Bryn Road. A survey of local residents conducted by the Lib Dems last year showed that 83% were in favour of such a scheme. As a result, Gabalfa's Lib Dem councillors have got the council to agree to introduce residents-only bays in the area. Cllr. Cathy Pearcy said: "The Council are planning to introduce a scheme for Pen-y-Bryn Road, Pen-y-Bryn Place and Pen-y-Bryn Way in line with our request. Under the plans, 50% of property frontages will be covered by the scheme, in line with council policy. The lengthy legal process to obtain the traffic orders will begin shortly. In the meantime, any resident who would like to see details of the scheme can attend our advice surgery this Friday, 5.30-6.30pm at St. Mark's Church on North Road." Local Lib Dem, John Dixon, added: "The old Curry's site is likely to be developed over the coming years and the future of the Northlands site is also being considered. It seems highly likely that parking pressure on Pen-y-Bryn Road will increase as a result, so we agree with local residents that adding residents-only parking will help protect existing properties from the impact of any development."
