11.23.00am GMT Thu 6th Mar 2008

Local Lib Dem Cllrs John Dixon and Nigel Howells are calling for urgent talks with developers to try to save the Vulcan pub from demolition.

Plans have been submitted to the Council that could see the end of the Vulcan, one of the oldest pubs in Adamsdown.

Cllr Nigel Howells said, "It is important that in any redevelopment of this area that the Vulcan remains. It is a pub that is full of character and is very popular with locals. I am sure that a way can be found to develop around the Vulcan and will be urging the developers to do just that."

Built in 1853, the Vulcan is one of the oldest pubs in Cardiff.
