Cyncoed Lib Dems call for safer crossings on Lake Road West

3.52.00pm GMT Mon 21st Jan 2008

The Cyncoed and Lakeside Focus Team has asked the council to move the pedestrian refuge on Lake Road West.

At the moment, the refuge is in the vicinity of Highfields Road, but the Cyncoed and Lakeside Focus Team think that this location is too dangerous, due the number of accidents that have occurred there.

Improving road safety

Local campaigner Cllr. David Rees said, "We've asked for the refuge to be moved so that cars will be able to exit out of Highfield Road, without putting pedestrians or other motorists at risk."

Jenny Randerson AM said, "The council has also agreed to install a new pedestrian refuge at the junction of Wild Gardens Road and Lake Road West. Both this new refuge and the work to move the Highfields Road refuge should start in the middle of February."
