Cardiff High consults community on safer routes to school

10.13.00am GMT Tue 26th Feb 2008

The Cyncoed Focus Team is delighted that Cardiff High is working with our community to find safer ways for pupils to travel to school.

Cllr Anne Gee, who is also a governor at Cardiff High, has been working with governors, pupils, parents and teachers to put together these plans.

The amount of traffic on the roads around Cardiff High School has been surveyed and there is particular concern over the school entrance which is difficult for pupils to cross due to the poor visibility.

Encouraging people out of their cars

Cllr. Anne Gee said, "The plans look fantastic and it represents a significant investment over a number of years. I would like to pay tribute to all those involved as it was a team effort between the school and the council to ensure that any schemes will be used by pupils and their views have been listened to.

"The road improvement schemes will enable more pupils to be safer going to school, and encourage more youngsters to walk or cycle to school."
