Keeping Gabalfa green: Lib Dem councillor, Ed Bridges, has protected and improved our local parks and playgrounds.

The Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team is highlighting the major investment in our local parks, playgrounds and green spaces over recent years.

Local councillors, Ed Bridges and Cathy Pearcy, have made the protection of open space a priority since being elected.

As a result, our area has seen major investment, such as new play facilities at Maitland Park and money spent on improving Flaxland Allotments. The Lib Dem council has also invested over £700,000 in Bute Park.

Cllr. Ed Bridges and Cllr. Cathy Pearcy are pushing for improvements to Flaxland Allotments.

Local councillor, Cathy Pearcy, said: "With so many big developments happening in the area, it is essential that we protect the 'green lungs' of Gabalfa ward. Ed and I are proud of the improvements we have secured for these important amenities."

A new playground is also likely to be built in Mynachdy, after Cllr. Ed Bridges secured it as a condition for any development of the old coal yard site.

Ed told us: "I don't just want to see existing parks and playgrounds improved. I believe that the council should be adding to these facilities where possible."
