Improving our area: Cllr. Cathy Pearcy is pleased that Cardiff’s Lib Dem council has improved the underpass at Gabalfa Interchange.

After months of construction, the new subway has opened between Ventnor Place and the Gabalfa underpass.

The new-look underpass is much brighter and more open than its predecessor, which residents frequently stated was unattractive.

Local councillor and Mynachdy resident, Cathy Pearcy, told Focus: "The old underpass, with its dog-leg corner and poor lighting made walking under the

Interchange a pretty grim experience. The work which has gone on has now made it feel much safer. The subway on the north side of the flyover, near to the Heath Hospital, should open soon and will be of the same improved design."

Cllr. Ed Bridges added: "This is another example of our Lib Dem council listening to local residents and improving our area. I hope we can now replace all the subways at the Interchange over the next year or two."

As always, if you have ideas for local improvements, don't hesitate to contact your Focus Team through the website!
