Cllr. Cathy Pearcy and Cllr. Ed Bridges want Mynachdy residents to know the truth about diversions at Margam Road.

Gabalfa ward's Lib Dem councillors have hit out at Cardiff North's Labour MP after she distributed a recent newsletter containing inaccurate information about the length of time that Margam Road in Mynachdy will be closed for roadworks.

The newsletter, distributed earlier this month, informed residents that the road would re-open at the end of July - but the Lib Dem Focus Team for Gabalfa understands that the work is likely to take four weeks longer, meaning a late August re-opening.

Local Lib Dem councillor, Cathy Pearcy, said: "Our Labour MP is giving false hope to the residents of Mynachdy. We have been involved in extensive discussions with the civil engineer and sub-contractors involved in the scheme on Margam Road, and they have been telling us for some time now that late August was the current estimate - we've even put out a leaflet to tell people that was the case. Perhaps Julie Morgan should try reading Focus for accurate information rather than reporting unrealistic deadlines!"

Cllr. Ed Bridges added: "Labour have once again shown their contempt for the people of Mynachdy Estate. People deserve to be told the truth so they can know what to expect - even if the news is disappointing. Local people know that we only report accurate information in Focus."
