Jenny Randerson, the Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Cardiff Central, is delighted by news that a bus service is to return to Maindy Road and Gelligaer Street after a break of about 5 years.

Cardiff's Liberal Democrat controlled council is re-directing the X45 bus route, which previously ran on North Road, so that residents living around Maindy Road will be able to catch an hourly bus to the city centre, Heath Hospital, Llandough Hospital and even Cardiff International Airport.

Jenny Randerson AM commented, "Residents were devastated when the old bus service was taken away, so I'm delighted that the Liberal Democrats have brought it back."

"The Welsh Liberal Democrats believe that encouraging more people to use local bus services is an important way to cut congestion and reduce our CO2 emissions, so we hope that this new bus route will encourage more people to use the bus."

Councillor Joseph Carter added, "A Welsh Liberal Democrat government would give councils or a partnership of councils the power to plan and develop bus routes, set the framework for fare levels and the design of vehicles to ensure accessibility, in order to get people out of their cars and onto public transport."
