Lib Dems welcome Rhydypennau Library improvements

12.00.00am GMT Fri 22nd Dec 2006

Rhydypennau Library, located on Llandennis Road, will be closing for 15 weeks from Saturday December 23 2006 for building improvements to take place.

Modifications to the entrance will include the installation of automatic doors and the replacement of existing ramps. New windows will be also fitted to the library and old facia boards will be replaced. A designated disabled parking space will be created in the library car park and two accessible disabled toilets will be constructed in the library for public use.

The welcomed adjustments are funded by Cardiff's Liberal Democrat controlled council.

Cyncoed Liberal Democrat councillor David Rees said, "We regret the inconvenience this closure may cause the public, but the much needed improvements will provide a more accessable Library, which will benefit local residents."

The borrowing allowance for Rhydypennau Library users will increase from 10 books to 30 for the closure period. Alternatively, members of the public are encouraged to use Penylan Library on Penylan Road, Rhiwbina Library on Pen-Y-Dre, Cathays Library on Fairoak Road or Central Library on John Street.
