Local Lib Dem councillor opens Maindy pool mural

10.48.04am GMT Thu 21st Dec 2006

On Tuesday, Welsh Liberal Democrat county councillor, Joseph Carter, opened a new mural at Maindy Pool, Crown way, Cathays.

The mural was painted by local artist, Bill Taylor-Beales but was designed by pictures used were originally designed by pupils from Ysgol Mynydd Bychan, Allensbank, Gladstone and St Monica's Primary schools.

Cllr. Joseph Carter, who's also a school governor at St Monica's Primary School, commented, "It was an honour to unveil the mural and I was very impressed by the hard work of all of the children."

"Over the last couple of years Maindy Leisure Centre has seen a wide range of improvements, with the enlarged cycle track, new BMX track and new upstairs gym and conference room. However its one thing having great facilities, but it's another thing making the leisure centre appear fun and appealing to children and teenager. The mural does this very well and shows that local children have a stake in this leisure centre as well."
