Maitland Park - new equipment

New play equipment at Maitland Park - thanks to the Gabalfa Focus Team!

New play equipment has this week been installed at Maitland Park - the latest in a series of new facilities secured by the hard work of the local Lib Dem Focus Team.

The new 'natural play' apparatus occupies the previously dead space in the triangle near to Laytonia Avenue, and provides an alternative to the formal playground area by St. Joseph's Primary School. It also means that there are more facilities for younger children in the park.

Local councillor and Park Watch activist, Ed Bridges, said: "Ever since I was first elected, I have campaigned to improve Maitland Park. It is the only park in our area, and it's important that it gets its fair share of investment. In 2008, the play equipment on the playground was replaced - but since then, we've gone even further by having a Multi-Use Games Area installed on the old tarmac, and now we have improvements further down the park as well. I remain committed to improving our park over the coming years."

Local resident, Gareth Holden, added: "There's no question that our park has been greatly improved thanks to the work of our local councillors. They consulted park users a few years back on what improvements were wanted by the community, and now they've delievered on it. As well as the new play equipment, there are a lot of new benches and the new avenue of trees alongside the path. The park looks fantastic, and our community will reap the benefits of this investment for years to come."
