Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Education Minister Jenny Randerson AM said "The first go at proper exams can be an intimidating experience so it is pleasing that so many of Wales' young people have equipped themselves with some strong qualifications.

The figures show 66.4% of pupils in Wales received A* to C grades, compared to 69.1% for all of the UK.
