Jenny Randerson - Universities need help to resist Minister's eerie, centralising agenda

The Welsh Lib Dems believe Universities shouldn't be controlled by politicians
Commenting on Leighton Andrews' criticism of Welsh Universities, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Education Minister, Jenny Randerson AM said:
"Leighton Andrews bizarre rant shows a worrying attitude towards our HE sector.
"This attack is clearly motivated by the fact he is finding it difficult to get Universities to sign up to his centralising, controlling agenda.
"We shouldn't forget that Welsh Universities are forced to work against the backdrop of a massive funding gap with England. Labour have presided over the widening of this gap and have repeatedly failed to close it.
"Welsh Universities need help to defend themselves from the eerie, centralising agenda that the Minister set out last night and we'll do our best to help protect them. "
