Ed Bridges, Cathy Pearcy and John Dixon have cautiously welcomed the news that South Wales Police are rethinking proposals to close Cathays Police Station.
The Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team are pleased to report that South Wales Police are rethinking proposals to close Cathays Police Station.
There had been moves to close the station because of budgetary pressures, which would have meant the closest police station for our area would have been at Cathays Park!
The Lib Dems launched a petition against the proposals in Focus #87, which elicited a huge response from residents. In light of the concerns raised, the Police have agreed to reconsider the plans and are exploring options to keep a local presence for the Neighbourhood Police Team.
Local activist, John Dixon, said: "We are giving a cautious welcome to this news. If keeping Cathays Police Station open simply isn't practical, it's vital that there is still a Police presence in the area. Hopefully a solution can be found - but we will keep up the pressure on behalf of all the residents who signed our petition."
