The Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team are pleased that plans for seven flats above the Maindy pub now look likely to be refused.
Residents in Gabalfa ward will be pleased to know that the local Liberal Democrat team has been successful in opposing plans to build seven flats on the upper stories of the Maindy pub.
An application had been put forward to build the seven flats, with no provision for car parking spaces, and many residents were concerned about the increase in parking congestion this could cause. Concern was also expressed about the size of the flats and lack of amenity space this would have meant for any tenants.
Cllr. Ed Bridges addressed today's Planning Committee meeting and explained the residents' concerns. As a result, the Planning Committee voted unanimously to defer a decision for a month so that reasons for refusal could be explored with the council's planning team.
Ed told us: "Essentially, what has happened is that the Committee decided to refuse the application, but they need to defer the issue so a watertight argument for that refusal can be worked on. This is great news, and it shows that residents' concerns have been listened to."
