Local action: Local councillors, Ed Bridges and Cathy Pearcy, are pleased that work will start next month to improve the appearance of Parkfield Place.
In Gabalfa Focus #62, we reported that work would start in the summer to improve access, lighting and parking at Parkfield Place.
The plans, which will see the long-awaited restoration of the grass area in the middle of the street were drawn up after heavy pressure from local Lib Dem councillors to improve the area's appearance.
Since the summer, extra investigations have had to be carried out into surface water drainage of the site. However, it is anticipated that work will finally begin in mid-November.
Cllr. Cathy Pearcy said: "Obviously this extra delay is a nuisance, but we're pleased that the project is moving forward. We have worked hard to get the council to agree to the project, and we believe it will be a very welcome regeneration of the area."
Cllr. Ed Bridges added: "We've been calling for work here for years, and it's great that the project will start soon. Once again, it's Lib Dem action which has got results for our local area."
