Cllr. Cathy Pearcy and Cllr. Ed Bridges with the old play equipment from Maitland Park, which is due to be replaced over the coming weeks.
Liberal Democrat councillors in Gabalfa ward are working with the council to get play equipment replaced in Maitland Park.
Many residents were concerned when equipment had to be removed from the park late last year because of health & safety issues with some of the apparatus. Since then, Cllr. Ed Bridges and Cllr. Cathy Pearcy have worked with the council to get the equipment replaced as soon as possible.
Cllr. Cathy Pearcy told us: "It was obviously very distressing for children and parents when the equipment had to be removed. While it would clearly be wrong for children to be allowed to play on unsafe equipment, it was paramount that the equipment was replaced swiftly."
As a result of Ed and Cathy's hard work, the council have now agreed to replace the equipment this summer, hopefully in the next few weeks.
Ed, who lives next to the park, said: "Work has already begun - the swings have had a fresh lick of paint, and I'm hoping that the new multi-use apparatus will be put up over the next month. Maitland Park is our only park in the ward, and we take great pride in it, so I will continue to do all I can to get it improved."
