Cllr. Ed Bridges and Cllr. Cathy Pearcy are delighted that Cardiff Council has agreed to their request to improve the pavements at North Road in Gabalfa.
Liberal Democrat councillors in Gabalfa ward have welcomed news that Cardiff Council has agreed to carry out long-awaited repairs on North Road's pavement.
Residents will remember that Cllr. Cathy Pearcy and Cllr. Ed Bridges have been calling for work at the Gabalfa Interchange end of North Road for many months.
As a result of their requests, the council has agreed to replace the pavement by St. Mark's Church and between Meridian Court and the shops with tarmac to make it safer for residents.
Local councillor, Cathy Pearcy, told www.cardiffnorthlibdems.org.uk: "We've been saying for ages that the pavement needed replacing with tarmac. Last year we submitted a petition to the council calling for exactly that. I am delighted that the council have agreed to our request."
The Gabalfa Focus Team has also made a request to the council for a full scheme of investment and improvement to the shopping parade on North Road - which would mean the pavement by the shops received attention as well.
Cllr. Ed Bridges said: "Cathy and I have made a formal request for an improvement scheme for North Road shops, which we hope will be given council backing. We want to see the pavement by the shopping parade brought up to scratch and better lighting put in to give the area a boost."
