Colchester Avenue development: Local Lib Dem councillors Bill Kelloway and Freda Salway are delighted that the developers have abandoned plans to build a controversial gulley through the new development and are spending half a million pounds improving our area.
Local residents are delighted that concessions have been made on the Colchester Avenue housing development.
At the November meeting of the Planning Committee, George Wimpey UK Ltd was given permission to build 227 properties. Of that, 45 will be rented and 24 for first time buyers.
Local residents were concerned as the original plans contained provision for a "gulley". The Penylan Focus Team backed the residents' campaign to have the "gulley" removed from the plans and the applicants agreed.
Cllr. Bill Kelloway said, "The council have asked the developers to pay over £500,000, which will be spent on improving roads and community facilities in Penylan."
