Cllrs. Ed Bridges and Cathy Pearcy have welcomed the reopening of Cathays Library.

The Gabalfa Liberal Democrat Focus Team is delighted to welcome the newly-reopened Cathays Library.

The library, which is over a hundred years old, reopened in June after Cardiff's Lib Dem Council invested almost £1 million to refurbish the Grade II listed Carnegie Building.

Gabalfa councillor, Ed Bridges, told us: "The library's roof had suffered extensive damage and the entire west wing of the building had to be closed to the public. This large room has now been re-plastered and filled with books and comfortable seating. The library also boasts more computer facilities and improved public toilets."

It's also worth remembering that, when Labour ran Cardiff Council, Cathays Library was scheduled for closure!

Cllr. Cathy Pearcy said: "This redevelopment of this fantastic local facility shows what can be done when the political will is there. Under Labour, this library could have closed down - under the Lib Dems, it's ready for another century of public service!"
